Why a backup takes preparation
A second supplier cannot necessarily reproduce an existing package from a photo or a purchase order. Missing dimensions, material requirements, tooling rights and acceptance criteria can make emergency sourcing slow or inconsistent.
What DBS evaluates
We document the current specification, assess alternative suppliers and production routes, compare commercial terms, and identify samples or tests needed to validate fit, appearance and function. Keep your existing supplier if desired; qualifying an alternative does not require replacing it.
How qualification works
- Send the packaging information you have; DBS identifies missing measurements, samples or engineering.
- Establish a controlled specification and obtain comparable alternative pricing.
- Validate samples or testing where appropriate, confirm capacity and commercial terms, and document the qualified route.
- Keep the backup current by reviewing specification changes, pricing validity and capacity before activation.
Qualification does not reserve capacity or guarantee emergency delivery. Tooling transfer, minimum quantities and acceptable differences require agreement.
