How unlike supplier quotes are made comparable without hiding uncertainty
A controlled quote comparison aligns specifications, quantities, destinations, cost bases, lead times, and commercial terms before interpreting a price difference.
Normalize the specification
Quote comparison begins with the physical and production requirements. A lower price is not comparable when dimensions, material, strength, print, finishes, insert scope, packing, or quality expectations differ.
- Dimensions and box style
- Material, board grade, flute, or paper specification
- Print process, colors, coatings, and finishes
- Inserts, pack-out, tolerance, and quality requirements
Normalize the commercial basis
The analysis records the same order quantity and delivery destination, then separates recurring production charges from one-time and inbound charges.
- Minimum order quantity
- Freight basis and origin
- Payment and delivery terms
- Production and transit lead time
Display uncertainty
Unknown costs remain unknown. The methodology does not interpolate a supplier tier that was not quoted, invent a freight estimate, or convert an expired quote into current evidence.
Decision output
The result is a transparent comparison of documented inputs and gaps. It is not a supplier ranking or a representation that price alone determines the better operational choice.
